An association library is a library that is privately controlled, but which meets the statutory definition for a public library in a given state of the United States. The association governing an association library is established for the express purpose of governing said library (i.e., a board is established for the purpose of governing the library; the library is not governed, for example, by a school board, which has other, non-library-related, purposes.)

Library Director:

Started with the Genesee Library in May of 2017, before that Raeanne earned her associates degree in Culinary Arts from Alfred State College. She has worked in various restaurants throughout Cattaraugus County including eight seasons at Cummins Cider Mill and the Seneca Allegany Casino. Raeanne enjoys sharing her knowledge of food with her patrons by teaching cooking classes. July of 2022 Raeanne was awarded the Sustainable Practices Award from the Southern Tier Library System. In July of 2022 Raeanne became a dual director as she took on the Director position at the Scio Memorial Library. In 2024 Raeanne received a scholarship to attend NYLA. This was an annual conference for continued education.

Carrie Jefferds

A long time local of Allegany County, Ms. Carrie Jefferds a high school graduate of Belmont Central School. College graduate of Alfred State and Saint Bonaventure University.
Carrie has devoted her life to serving the cats of Allegany County and some humans too. She has spent as the library assistant for the Box of Books Library and the Director of the Belmont Free Library for 16 years.
